Japanese Professional baseball league was founded in 1934. It was started with 7 teams in one league. The league was expanded into two, with increasing of teams in 1950.
In 1934, Japanse professional baseball league was launched with following features.

- 2 in Nagoya
- 2 in Osaka and suburbs.

There are 12 teams in Japanese professional baseball league, promoted by NPB as Nippon Professional Baseball Organization.

A. 143 Games
The regular season of baseball started in March and ended in October.
25 games x 5 teams in Same League. And 3 games x 6 teams in another League. There are 143 games in a year.
Half of games are held in home stadiums. And another half are away games, which is called as visitor games.
A. Nippon Series
Nippon means ‘Japan’. The winner of Central League and Pacific League have matches in end of October. The team winning 4 games will be a champion of Japanese Baseball League.
In even years, 1st and 2nd, and 6th, 7th matches will be held in home stadium of Central League champion. 3rd, 4th, 5th games will be held in home stadium of Pacific League.
In odd yeas, on the contrary, 1,2,6,7th games will be in home stadium of Pacific League champion, 3,4,5th will be in home stadium of Central League.
